Students visited the brand new Kaw Valley State Park to do some serious hiking (well serious if you are 7+ months pregnant!).
We hiked about 30 minutes and ended up in a section where the trail opened up a bit. Students did drawings and paintings of the plant life that surrounded them at that location. After hiking back to the bus, we headed to the library to see the Printed Image III show currently on display. This is a national show that Topeka does a great job organizing. Students viewed dozens of prints and had a chance to do their own mono print. We ate a delicious lunch at the Millennium Cafe and then headed to Warehouse 414. At the Warehouse we saw work by Geoff Benzing and made our own art by drawing the random and wonderful objects the store contains.
This was a full and productive day for the 27 art students that joined me! Check out the student's art in the halls of Royal Valley High!
